Find Magazine and Journal Articles

To find journal, magazine, and newspaper articles, try:

In Academic Search Premier or ProQuest, consider perfoming an Advanced Search to join two topics, such as

child

Take a look at YC: Young Children a journal we subscribe to “in paper”  at the Santa Maria library.

 

Evaluating Websites

When doing research on the internet remember to evaluate the websites you find. 

  • Are they objective or do they just have one point of view? 

  • Are they current? 

  • Accurate? 

  • Who created them? 

  • Do they cover your subject in enough depth?

 

Find a Book

Use the library’s catalog to find books, videocassettes, and DVDs.  If a subject search doesn’t work, try a keyword search.  Perhaps browse call number areas such as:

BF - Psychology

         BF 700--723 Developmental (infant, child, adolescent) psychology

LA - History of education

LB – Theory and practice of education

              LB 1025-1050 – Teaching (principles and practice)

              LB 1101–1139 – Child study
