There are two libraries at Allan Hancock College: the Santa Maria campus library (part of the Learning Resources Center in Building L) and the Lompoc campus library (the Jacoby Learning Resources Center at the Lompoc Valley Center). As a Hancock College student, you have access to both libraries and the materials of both libraries.

Welcome to the Lompoc Valley Center Library!

Welcome to the Jacoby Learning Resources Center at the Lompoc Valley Center (LVC)!

The library and tutorial services are excellent tools to help you navigate the world of college. At the LVC, tutorial and library services are wrapped up in one neat bundle in the Jacoby Learning Resources Center (in Building 1). Students can come by for quiet study time, computer use (in the Open Access Lab, also located in the Learning Resources Center), reference and research help, to utilize free tutorial services (provided by both students and college faculty), to learn how to request materials on loan from other institutions, or simply to check out books for personal interest.

The LVC opened its doors in 1999, and since its early days, the library/Learning Resources Center has become a hub of student activity over the years. Last year alone, the library fielded 28,000 visitors. Next year, who knows how large the number will be?!

What Does the Library Have for You?

You can find a variety of resource types at the library. We have many books, in both print and electronic format, as well as articles (also in print and online), article databases, videorecordings (on DVD, VHS, and CD), audiobooks, streaming films and more.

Another important (and free!) resource the library provides are the college librarians. Whenever the library is open, at least one college librarian will be present at the Reference Desk (near the entrance of the library and the Circulation/Check-Out desk). The librarian can help guide you, no matter what step of the research process you are in, if you don't even know where to start, or if you are simply looking for a great new reading suggestion.
